Trans-vaginal Ultrasound for doing Antral Follicular Count-AFC

In women undergoing fertility treatment, a very important test is determining Antral Follicle count that is primordial follicles that get recruited on day 1 or 2 of start of menses.
These follicles have potential to increase in size and give rise to mature follicle with good quality ova in it.
The correct way to do this test is ultrasound by vaginal route.
As these follicles are very small 4-6 mm in size, Trans-abdominal route may not give us correct exposure.
As woman is still menstruating in this phase, we frequently come across mental resistance .
With the help of proper counselling and maintaining hygiene, we can make the woman comfortable.
