Real Women ,Real experiences-When gross obesity is taken as normal way of life


A 32 year old woman was delivered vaginally a couple of weeks back by one of our associate Gynecologists. Patient weighed more than 125 kg.
                                               

                                                      

She has always been on the higher side of weight for her age.
She is tall too.
When she started with pregnancy ,her weight was 110 kg.

Technical difficulties during delivering her involved, inability to monitor her uterine contractions on manual examination of abdomen because of fat pads, maternal push were ineffective as she could not hold her thighs, access to vaginal space was limited as fat on thighs was coming in the way.

Post delivery she required DVT ( Deep Vein Thrombosis ) prophylaxis by way of giving Low Molecular Weight Heparin (LMWH)
Fatty breasts did not produce enough milk for the baby.

If weight was controlled in the pre-pregnancy time, all these things would not have to be faced
