A 34 year old married woman - resident of Kamothe, Panvel, came to us in OPD.
She wanted to become pregnant.
This was a second marriage for both the partners.
Neither had any living children from previous marriages.
Upon investigation, it was determined that lady had multiple big uterine fibroids, though her periods were regular.
Uterine cavity was badly distorted.
Accordingly it was counselled to her about slim chances of her becoming pregnant.
To our surprise she conceived on her own without treatment within next couple of months.
We did not opt for cervical cerclage as her cervical length was always good.
Her Double marker showed intermediate risk.
Performing Amniocentesis was out of question because of technical difficulties.
NIPT was done and it came normal.
Right from 34 weeks onwards we planned for elective LSCS, with due risks explained, preparation of multiple blood transfusions, risk of vertical scar, even need of Caesarean myomectomy, need of Internal Iliac ligation, need of Cesarean Hysterectomy, all were explained to the patient and her husband in detail.
Very close to her date of Elective LSCS, she went into spontaneous labor and came with leaking.
Very swiftly she progressed and delivered a healthy female baby.
Throughout this duration of pregnancy, it has been a journey of miracles.
Medical science may not be able to explain her conception, easy carriage and delivery.
Life process has its upper hand.
And we as well as the parents are ever grateful for that
