A real case of termination of pregnancy because of intractable vomiting of pregnancy-Hyperemesis Gravidarum

A 29 year old patient, resident of Kamothe, Panvel came to us for care of her pregnancy.

She had already had 2 children by normal delivery.

During each of her pregnancy, she experienced exaggerated vomiting- Hyperemesis gravidarum, but it would respond to IV fluids and injections.

This time , she didn't settle and her LFT- Liver function test, started to go down.

This can be a very difficult situation to manage, requiring prolonged and repeated admissions in hospital. Medicine doctor opinion, remaining nil by mouth for prolonged periods of time.

In the interest of maternal wellbeing , decision for termination of pregnancy was taken and carried out.

She settled uneventfully after that
