Real Women, Real Experiences- When absence of menses of pregnancy is taken as menopause

                         

An interesting and unusual case came to OPD. 

A 44 year old highly educated and professionally successful woman, resident of Road Pali, Panvel, came with 22 weeks of pregnancy.

This was her first visit to Gynecologist.

Actually, she didn't know that she is pregnant and this was a sonography diagnosis. Ultrasound was advised by a family doctor for abdominal swelling.

Though she was not getting menses for 4-5 months, she being tech savvy,  Googled her symptoms and self diagnosed herself as 'Menopausal'

Symptoms of baby movements, she thought were 'Gas' 

For weight gain of normal pregnancy, ignorantly she was exercising and doing Trade Mill. 

She has two grown up boys of college going age both born by Caesarean section.

She certainly wasn't looking for pregnancy.

Now that pregnancy is detected in advanced stage, continuation with strict monitoring considering her age is the only option
