A 40 year old woman, resident of Road Pali, Kharghar,Navi Mumbai, presented with severe lower pain abdomen and history of missed periods.

She is a mother of 3 children15 days back she had a bout of abdominal pain which she thought was due to 'Gas' and didn't pay attention.Her last period was scanty.What must have happened medically, was that she had an 'Ectopic pregnancy' at that time in the Fallopian tube.There was a rupture of Tube but it was not of severe variety and got contained by way of forming of clot Intra-AbdominallyOn the day of the presentation, the bleeding started again but now it was not stopping.Such a bleeding if not controlled timely, can be a life threatening event.As you can see by the pictures of the operation that it was not a straight froward case.There were lots of adhesions among Fallopian tube and parieties.A bloody and messy adhesiolysis was required.Plenty of blood clots were removed.Abdominal drain was kept on post operative period.Prolonged convalescence, antibiotics, Injectable Methotrexate, Folinic Acid,serial monitoring of Beta HCG levels, all became part of her recovery.There were escalation of hospital stay and costA simple and responsible use of regular contraceptive method would have avoided all these problemsTo know more log on to my website-
