I am HIV positive woman and having pain in lower abdomen and irregular bleeding. Is this cancer of cervix or uterus?
A 36 year old woman,mother of 1 child,resident of Khopoli,consulted Dr.Himani R Gupta,Gynecoloist & Obstetrician from Kharghar,Navi Mumbai .
She was having pain in lower abdomen since 1 month.
Both wife and husband were HIV positive.
During first Gynecological examination and ultrasound all findings were normal.
She was given symptomatic treatment to which she responded partially.
As she kept on complaining of pain, sonography was done again but this time she showed a very large mass in in lower part of uterus.
She also complained of irregular bleeding per vaginum.
Most likely diagnosis is cancer of cervix,lower part of uterus.
In HIV patients, as the immunity is very low,cancer spreads very rapidly and can cause a lot of morbidity and even mortality.
